The New Mexico - Colorado Road trip Itinerary

As we went further into summer 2025, we embarked on a southwest adventure made of a New Mexico - Colorado road trip. Any year where you make two trips to New Mexico is a great one! The landscape is gorgeous and diverse - always has been one of our favorites!

The itinerary:

  • Flight to Albuquerque

  • 1 day in Albuquerque to adapt to the elevation change and enjoy the Sandia mountains

  • Drive to Alamogordo, NM

  • Explore White Sands National Park

  • Scenic drive along the Turquoise Trail to Santa Fe

  • A week in Santa Fe with plenty of hiking, art, great food, and enjoying some time at the Santa Fe Opera

  • A day in the beautiful Taos, NM

  • Explore Great Sand Dunes National Park

  • A few days in Colorado Springs, including Garden of the Gods and a trip to the top of Pikes Peak

  • A few days in Fort Collins with a visit to Rocky Mountain National Park

  • Then head home with a flight out of Denver


Now, let's go to the mountains!
